Tezpur University is an Indian Central Universitylocated in Tezpur in the North Eastern state of Assam, India by an act in Parliament of India in 1994.The governor of Assam, Janaki Ballabh Patnaik is the chancellor of Tezpur University, Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri is the vice-chancellor and Amarjyoti Choudhury is the pro vice-chancellor.The establishment of Tezpur University is considered to be one of the outcomes of the Assam Accord,along with the establishment of Assam University and Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Tezpur University was established, by an Act of Parliament, in 1994. The then prime minister of India, P. V. Narasimha Rao, chaired the opening of the university.

| Library | Central Library is the focal point of all user community of Tezpur University. The Library caters to the educational and research needs of the academic community and its resources are consulted by scholars from all over the country. Central Library has been started functioning since 1994. At present, the library holds about 83200+ books, 10000+ journals (print + online),online databases, CDs and 7848 back volumes of journals. Library is a member of e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, DeLCON consortium and DELNET. Library users can access book database, journal database, e-journals, institutional repository, electronic thesis & dissertations and other e-resources from any terminal within the University campus. Library provides reading facility for 365 days in the year. The library is continuously striving at to adopt the best practices in all endeavours of its activities. The library has fully computerized with the help Libsys software which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. |
