NEET PG 2023 : Counseling will start soon, number of seats may be reduced under special circumstances.

National Medical Commission (NMC) will soon start the counseling for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Post Graduate (NEET PG) 2023. NMC has recently released the availability of Recognized / Permitted Post Graduate Board Special Seats for the seat matrix for admission for the academic session. 2023. 
NEET PG 2023 was conducted on March 5 and the results were declared on March 14. The cut-off for Gen and EWS category was 291 out of 800, for Gen-PwBD it was 274 and for SC, ST and OBC it was 238. In post-graduate counselling, there are 50 per cent seats for all India quota and states.

The Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) has received 2,828 applications from medical colleges/institutions for recognition/renewal of PG medical qualifications in 2022 and so far, the board has taken its decision on 1,870 applications, National Medical Commission (NMC) said the apex regulator of medical education in the country in a recent notice.

Dr Vijay Oja, Chairman, PGMEB at NMC, said that the decision on the remaining applications is under process.Oja said that with NEET PG 2023 counseling starting soon, existing recognized/permitted seats in medical colleges will be considered for admission during the academic year 2023, seat matrix of the institutes will be prepared accordingly.

"Under special circumstances, colleges can reduce the number of seats," he added. The postgraduate medical seats to be filled through NEET PG are divided 50-50 between the states and the Centre.
