About Combined GEO Scientist Exam

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts a Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination (CGGE) for recruitment and selection to the post of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist Group 'A' in GSI and Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist 'B'), Group 'A' for Central Ground Water Board. Every year, the Commission releases the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination notification in September to shortlist the candidates for the posts. The selection will be based on a competitive examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Candidates who want to apply online for this entrance exam will have to check all the required details available on our website and the notification released by the official website. The examination shall be conducted according to the norms and conditions of the UPSC. Candidates competing for selection to the particular posts of Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination will be required to appear in all the subjects mentioned against the respective category. UPSC GSI Age Limit 2022

The candidate applying for the UPSC Geo-Scientist Combined Exam 2022 must fulfill the age criteria as per the official notification. The age criteria are based on the post provided below:

  • The candidate applying for the Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist in the ministry of Mines post must have attained the age of 21 to 32 years.

Combined GEO Scientist Admit Card

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Application Admit Card 2022 will be released on the official portal three weeks before the exam date. However, the admit card of the exam will be separate for Prelims Exam, Mains, and Interview. The candidates who had applied for the Exam will be able to download the admit card from the official website soon using their login credentials.

Combined GEO Scientist Exam Pattern

The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist examination consists of three stages. Candidates have to clear the Prelims as well as the mains examination for the final interview selection. The candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam are shortlisted for the mains exam and then the final interview will proceed for the candidate. Below are all details of the UPSC Combined GEO Scientist and Geologist Examination 2022 Exam Pattern. Read some basic steps for all three stages:

Stage 1: Prelims Examination (Computer Based Objective Type Papers). This is the first stage that consists of 400 Marks.

Stage 2: Mains Examination (Descriptive type paper) consists of 600 Marks.

Stage 3: Personal Interview( Personality Test) Consists of 200 Marks.

There will be a Stage III called Personality Test for 200 marks. However, this does not include any minimum qualifying marks.
