Age Limit

The WB Police SI age limit for the post of Sub Inspector in West Bengal Police ranges from 20 years to 27 years. In order to showcase the physical fitness under the PET, the male candidates will be required to cover a distance of 800m in under 3 minutes while running and the female candidates required to cover a distance of 400 meters within 2 minutes.

Kolkata Police SI Selection

The selection process for the Kolkata Police SI Recruitment 2023 includes the following stages:

Written Examination
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

Kolkata Police SI Exam Pattern

The Kolkata Police SI Selection Process mainly comprises 4 stages of recruitments that are:

Preliminary Examination
Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET),

The initial screening test/ preliminary exam will be qualifying in nature. All the candidates who will qualify the preliminary exam will proceed further to the second stage and so on. After all the stages are done, all the selected candidates are supposed to go through a medical examination too. The preliminary examination will be an MCQ-type OMR-based written examination.
It will be qualifying in nature.
The question paper will be set bilingual i.e., in two languages (English and Bengali).
A total of 100 questions shall be asked for 200 marks.
There will be a negative marking of 1/4th of the assigned mark for each incorrect answer.
This is only a screening round, marks scored in the preliminary examination will not be counted for the purpose of determining the final merit list.

Stage 2: Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will include the following tasks:

Stage 3: Final Combined Competitive Exam

The final combined competitive exam shall consist of 3 papers.
These papers shall consist of conventional type questions.
Paper - I (General Studies and Arithmetic) of Final Combined Competitive Examination will be set in three languages - English, Bengali, and Nepali. Answers can be in any of these languages but all the answers must be in one and the same language.

Stage 4: Personality Test

A limited number of the candidates selected merit-wise based on the scores of the Final Combined Competitive Examination will be called in to appear for the Personality Test.
Candidates’ ability to speak in Bengali will be tested.
The personality test will be conducted out of 30 marks total.
The minimum qualifying mark for the personality test will be 08 marks.
