HPSC FSO Eligibility

Age Limit

The age limit for the HPSC Food Safety Officer is as follows:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 42 years

Age Relaxation
  • There is an upper age relaxation of up to 5 years over and above the maximum age limit for Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  • For a non-creamy layer of backward classes (applicants who do not fall into the category of SC/ST), they are entitled to an upper age relaxation of up to 5 years over and above the maximum age restriction.
  • A 5-year age relaxation is granted to the spouses of military personnel who become handicapped while serving in the military.
  • Women who are legally widowed or divorced are likewise eligible for a 5-year age reduction, providing they haven't remarried.
  • Women who are single are also eligible for a 5-year age relaxation.
  • Women who have been legally divorced and have lived apart for more than two years from the prescribed date are eligible for a 5-year age relaxation.
  • Aspiring candidates with benchmark disabilities are allowed an age relaxation of 10 years under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, subject to a maximum of 52 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen are eligible for an age reduction equal to their military service plus three years, provided that:
  • Before his discharge, he had performed continuous duty for at least six months, and
  • He was released in a different way than by being dismissed or discharged for bad behaviour or inefficiency.
  • Candidates who have previously worked or are currently working on an ad hoc, contract, or daily wage basis in any department are eligible for an age reduction equal to the number of completed years on an equivalent post, excluding any break periods and any other applicable age reductions, up to a maximum age of 52 years.

Educational Qualification
  • Applicants must possess a graduate degree or its equivalent in food or dairy technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agriculture Science or Veterinary Sciences or Biochemistry or Microbiology from a government-recognized university. However, it is necessary for candidates to have the original mark sheet or degree certificate duly signed by the appropriate authority.
  • Also, candidates must have Hindi or Sanskrit Subject as one of the subjects in Higher Education.
  • Additionally, interested candidates must complete training as prescribed by the Food Authority of India.

Nationality

To become eligible for the post of HPSC Food Safety Officer, candidates must be 

  • An Indian Citizen, or
  • A subject of Nepal and Bhutan or 
  • A Tibetian refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, etc.
