In Paper-I, every candidate will have 200 MCQs to solve with a 0.25 mark deduction for every wrong answer. On the basis of the results of Paper-I, the candidate will move onto the next phase of the exam. Following is the Syllabus with topics for Paper-I of SSC JE Electrical engineering exam. 

The results of Paper-I will determine the cut off list for the marks required to qualify for the next phase. The candidate’s descriptive skills will be assessed through this exam which will be conducted for 300 marks. There is a negative marking system in this paper as a 0.25 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. 

Once the candidate has qualified in Paper-I, he/she will be eligible for the second phase (Paper-II). This phase of the exam will test the descriptive abilities of the candidates and hence a written test for 300 marks will be conducted. In this written test, the candidate has to solve the questions related to General Engineering (Electrical Engineering).
