About CLAT Exam

Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) is conducted for the students who want to be enrolled in Undergraduate (UG) law courses offered at 22 National Law Universities and other private Law colleges/universities accepting Law scores. CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities consisting of representative universities. Every year, CLAT Exam is conducted once for providing opportunities to aspirants who are seeking admission to Law Schools & Colleges. Besides NLU, more than 50 private colleges and universities are accepting admission on the basis of CLAT Scores. CLAT Exam Date

CLAT 2024 Exam will be held on 3rd December 2023 as per the CLAT Exams schedule announced by the Consortium of National Law Universities. Check the tentative schedule for CLAT 2024 which will be finalised once the notification is released.

CLAT Eligibility

CLAT : Undergraduate (UG) 2023 :

  • 1. There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2023.
  • 2. Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination). a. Forty Five Percent (45%) Marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PwD / NRI / PIO / OCI / Categories. b. Forty Percent (40%) Marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST Candidates.
  • 3. Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March / April, 2023 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2023 Examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
  • 4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they have applied for.
 

CLAT : Postgraduate (PG) 2023 :

  • 1 ) An LL.B Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PwD / NRI / PIO /OCI categories.
  • 2 ) Forty Five Percentage (45%) Marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST Categories.
  • 3 )Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in March / April 2023 are eligible to apply.
  • 4 ) There is no upper age limit for appering for the CLAT 2023

CLAT Syllabus

The CLAT syllabus is shared by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to inform candidates about the subjects, important topics for the pen-and-paper exam. Further, the CLAT syllabus will help you:

  • Check the topic-wise distribution of marks or weightage carried by various topics.

CLAT Exam Pattern

CLAT Cut off

The Consortium of NLUs releases the NLU-wise CLAT cut-off for the 5-year integrated and one-year LLM programs. The cutoffs would be category-specific and indicate the minimum marks (or ranks) one needs to secure in one's given category to be considered for admission.

CLAT cutoff 2022-23 for participating NLUs is determined considering the following points:

  • The seat intake for the program applied for admission
  • Total number of candidates seeking admission to that course
  • The CLAT 2022 merit rank of the applicants
  • Category under which admission is sought
  • NIRF Ranking (if available) of the applied NLU.

CLAT How to Apply

The Online Application for CLAT Entrance Test will be started in August 2023 and it will be active till October 2023 for UG Courses. Candidates can bookmark this page to stay tuned regarding CLAT 2024 registration.
 

Steps to fill CLAT 2024 Application Form

Step-I Registration - The candidate needs to register by entering their name, mobile number, and email id. 

Step-II Login - Log in with your email id and password to access the application form.  

Step-III Choose the program of study - After logging in, the first thing is to select the program of study 5-year LLB or one-year LLB

Step-IV Fill the complete form - There will be different fields like personal information, communication details, qualifying examination status, exam center preferences (THREE centers can be selected in the order of preference), and reservation. All fields need to be filled.

Step-V Submit the form - Once the details are duly filled, agree to the declaration, give consent, and submit the form.    

Step-VI Pay the application fee - In the last step, pay the application fee (which is category-specific) in online mode using credit or debit cards, or net banking. Note that in addition to the exam fee, candidates will have to pay an additional INR 500 if they want to opt for previous years' question papers.

Step-VII Get registered by entering details like name, email id and mobile number. Upload scanned copies of signature, photograph and other documents in the prescribed specification. The size and format of pic is given below.
