About JEE Advance Exam

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE), New Delhi introduced the national level common entrance exam called Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). JEE will be conducted by the JEE Apex Board for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions. The Joint Entrance Exam will be conducted in two parts, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. JEE (Main) replaces the AIEEE entrance exam and JEE (Advanced) replaced the IIT-JEE entrance exam from 2017. The aim of the common entrance test has been mooted to reduce stress on students., who have to appear for multiple entrance examinations and to give greater relevance to the school education, especially the class 12 board examinations.

JEE Advance Eligibility

The authorities have released eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2023 in online mode along with the brochure on their official website. The authorities have re-introduced the 75% marks criteria. Candidates looking for admissions have to secure a minimum 75% marks in class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12th conducted by respective Boards.

Particulars Details
Age Limit For JEE Advanced 2023 General category candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1998. However, relaxation of 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD category.
Qualifying Examination for JEE Advanced 2023 Candidates should have appeared for the Class 12th (or equivalent) for the first time in either 2022 or 2023 with the subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates who had appeared in Class 12th (or equivalent) examination, for the first time in 2021 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2023 exam.
 
Number of Attempts In JEE Advanced 2023 For JEE Advanced 2023, the candidates would be able to attempt the examination two times in two consecutive years.
Admissions To IITs The candidates should have never taken admission in an IIT irrespective of whether they continued the programme or not or accepted the seat. The candidates who have earlier joined any of the IIT but later cancelled their admission will also not be termed eligible for JEE Advanced 2023.
JEE Main 2023 The candidates should have qualified the JEE Main examination 2023 and must be in the top 2,50,000 candidates in order of merit. The candidates should also qualify the cutoff for admissions into IITs. Overall 10% general EWS category candidates will be shortlisted along with 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all.
JEE Advanced AAT 2023 Candidates should have attempted and qualified for the JEE Advanced 2023 examination and must have secured the required cutoff.

JEE Advance Admit Card

Candidates who successfully register for JEE Advanced 2022 by paying the application fee, are issued the JEE Advanced admit card 2022. The test centre is allotted via the admit card only.

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a printed copy of the downloaded admit card and their valid original photo identity card, any one of the following:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • School/College/Institute ID
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID
  • Passport
  • PAN Card
  • Notarized Certificate with photograph

Only candidates having a valid admit card and photo identity card are allowed to write the examination. Only pens, pencils, drinking water in a transparent bottle, a downloaded admit card and an original photo identity card are allowed to be taken inside the examination hall.


JEE Advance Syllabus

The syllabus comprises of topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Topics are as follows:

Physics- Includes General Topics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics and Modern Physics .
Mathematics- Includes topics under Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, and Vectors .
Chemistry- Includes topics under Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.


JEE Advance Exam Pattern

The JEE Advanced 2023 exam pattern will include the details such as marking scheme, number of questions, exam mode, type of questions, etc. Here you can check the complete details of the JEE Advanced 2023 exam pattern – 

  • Mode of Examination – Online (CBT Mode)
  • Number of papers – There will be 2 papers and both are mandatory.
  • Duration of exam – The exam duration will be 3 hours provided for each paper (4 hours for the disabled candidates)
  • Type of questions – According to the marking scheme, for each correct answer marks will vary while for the incorrect answer, the negative marking will be done in a few formats.
  • Paper Language – English and Hindi
  • Subjects – The questions will be from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

JEE Advance How to Apply

  • Candidates need to register themselves for JEE Advanced 2023 exam through the official website at jeeadv.ac.in by providing their JEE Main 2023 roll number, password, and security pin.
  • Enter your personal details like their name, parents’ name, communication details, address details etc. in the specific columns of JEE Advanced 2023 application form.
  • Choose your exam centres while filling out the JEE Advanced application form 2023.
  • Candidates need to upload the scanned images of their passport size photographs and signature in JEE Advanced registration form 2023.
  • Pay the JEE Advanced registration fee in online mode through net banking/credit card/debit card or offline mode (cash using SBI option).
  • After submitting all the details, you must take multiple printouts of the final JEE Advanced 2023 application form for future requirements.
