Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) is an Institute of Technology with status Deemed University in Longowal city, Sangrur district, Punjab, India. The institute is located on 451 acres (1.83 km2) of land provided by the Sate Government of Punjab.The institute was conceived by the, government of India in 1985 as a tribute to Sant Harcharan Singh Longowal, a Sikh leader in the 1970s. The institute was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 1989 and was inaugurated on 20 December 1991. It was made a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission in April 2007.
