The Institute has acquired 341.5 acres of land in lush green areas of Langol, Imphal. The Institute is administered By the Director of the Institute under the direct supervision of Board of Governors (BOG) headed by The Chairman of the Board of Governors as the institute is registered under Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989. The NIT Manipur is an autonomous Institute of National importance. From the Academic year 2013-14 two more branches in B.Tech courses are inducted viz Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. At present there is an intake of 150 students per year out of which 50% seats are reserved for the students from Manipur and the rest 50% seats are reserved for the students from the other states of India. NIT Manipur has gone Global with the programme Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) from 2013-14. The Institute aims to provide the best infrastructure and amenities to the students. The institute vision is being one of the best technical institutes in South-East Asia. The Institute aims to attract students from the neighboring South-East Asian countries in view of the Look-East Policy of the Government of India. The Institute strongly believes that the success of an Institute lies in the faculty and will leave no stone unturned to attract the best faculty available in the country.
